[ ABOUT UFB ]

Why The League Exists?

UFB was built to create a real testing ground for humanoid robotics: a place to validate safety practices, pressure-test new research in public, and push real-world adoption forward. Our Direct Body Control technology allowed anyone to become a robot Pilot through natural movement.

Why Ghost Trials Matter?

Ghost Trials is the league's official pipeline for long-term technical talent. Through this program, top teams get access to advanced hardware, compute, mentor support, and deep technical collaboration so they can experiment faster and build breakthrough behaviors.

Pilots control the robots in the arena. Ghosts decide who wins.

[ TRACKS ]

Three Submission Tracks

Fighting Styles

Build fighting policies: punching, blocking, combo chains and balance recovery. Train robots to react fast and move like athletes inside the arena.

Performance Arts

Program robots to perform: choreographed dance moves, acrobatic stunts and live instrument sets (piano, drums and more) synced to music.

Experimental Track

A sandbox for everything outside combat or art: advanced loco-manipulation, world models and any cool idea to train robots.

How Ghost Trials Work

  1. Step 01

    Open Call and Track Selection

Teams apply under Fighting, Performance Arts, or World Model tracks with a short technical proposal and demo in simulation or real-world environments.

  2. Step 03

Bay Area In-Person Trials (30 Teams)

30 top teams advance to live in-person trials around the Bay Area where robots are evaluated under real-world conditions with track-specific criteria. The $25,000 prize pool is distributed based on performance.

  3. Step 05

    League Sponsorship and Season Integration

Final teams are integrated into UFB season programming and aligned with league sponsors for official competition participation, media visibility, and a structured path toward fully sponsored league team status.

  1. Step 02

    Simulation Sprint (100 Teams)

100 selected teams enter an 8-12 week remote sprint using standardized environments aligned with Unitree G1 systems. Each team receives $75 in compute credits and is evaluated through public metrics and milestone reviews.

  2. Step 04

    Permanent Robot Access (5 Teams)

Five teams are selected for long-term development access to physical humanoid robots:

    • 2 Fighting Styles Teams
    • 2 Performance Arts Teams
    • 1 Experimental Use Team

Selected teams receive permanent robot access, technical integration support, and league development status.
